Victoria Beckham was awarded the title of Womanswear Designer of The Year at the prestigious WGSN Global Fashion Awards last night (05.11.12).
Victoria Beckham has been named Womanswear Designer of The Year.
The Spice Girl-turned-designer was given the prestigious award at the WGSN Global Fashion Awards a glittering ball hosted by Cat Deeley at The Savoy hotel in London last night (05.11.12).
A judge at the event - which celebrates brilliance in fashion and retail design across the globe - said: ”In just five years Victoria Beckham has gone from creating a handful of grandma dresses to building a truly modern and covetable luxury brand, defying cynics and winning over the critics in the process. This is her year.”
The svelte star was unable to attend the event due to commitments in Los Angeles, where she lives with her LA Galaxy soccer star husband David and their four children, Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, seven-year-old Cruz, and 16-month-old daughter Harper.
She tweeted her thanks to organisers WGSN: ”Thank you @wgsn, thrilled to win Womenswear Designer @GFashionAwards #GFA2012 ! X vb”
Victoria - whose clothes are coveted by celebrities including Nicole Scherzinger and Blake Lively - then posted a video of her spring/summer 2013 catwalk show on her Twitter feed.
Topshop was awarded the Womenswear Design Team award, while The Hall of Fame award went photographer Rankin.
Charlotte Olympia took the Footwear & Accessories designer crown and Kim Jones at Louis Vuitton was named best Menswear designer.

But ever the member of the Kardashian clan, the seemingly low key task of getting her nails done turned out to be another way to promote her brand.
Kendall wore a ‘Kalifornia’ T-shirt from the new fashion line she has set up with her 15-year old sister Kylie Jenner.

The Kendall and Kylie Kollection was launched exclusively in PacSun fashion stores last month in the States, and as Kendall’s T-shirt would indicate, a love of California is evident throughout their summery designs.

She paired her blue T-shirt with black leggings and a cream coat, while wearing the typical disposable flip-flops given to customers after receiving a pedicure.

Before heading home, the Vogue model picked up a strawberry car freshener for her Range Rover.
It’s simple moments like these that reflect normality Kendall often yearns for.
A life in the public eye is not something she chose, rather thrust upon her the minute her mother Kris Jenner, and older half-sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian decided to televise their public and personal lives for the world to watch and scrutinise.

Dressing up in Gothic fashion, with mature make-up and styling meant for a woman not a 17-year old is definitely not child-like behaviour, and adds weight to the criticism of her ‘momager’ Kris for pushing her two youngest daughters into the public eye.
Kris was accused of ‘forcing them to be the breakout stars’ since receiving backlash from her eldest daughters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe.
Jenner called the claim ‘ridiculous’ in an interview with Us Weekly, but a source who allegedly used to work with the family told InTouch, ‘Kris is trying to mold Kendall and Kylie into the next mega-brand – the next Kim Kardashian. Kris isn’t acting like their mom.
